Format

Lecture

Doug Hannum and/or Bill Godbold will explain in an open forum the history and theory of equine therapy including all of the techniques that he uses in his therapy sessions.  He will explain how common problems that the average horse may have can be treated to allow the horse to feel, behave and respond better.  Problems as common as wrong leads, stiffness, shortness in steps, bucking, rearing, holding head down or up, stopping, being head shy and many more can all be treated.  Sometimes with only a few, or in some instances only one therapy session!

Therapies include; pulsating magnet, massage, laser, and hydrotherapy, as well as electrical stimulation, myofascial release, acupuncture and chiropractic.  Also discussed will be shoeing, saddle fitting, dental, muscular, and skeletal, rhythm and flow.

Demonstration/Practical Application

Doug will evaluate the horse by demonstrating how he looks for musculoskeletal problems, and there may be an evaluation of the horse under saddle.  Doug will then perform many different methods of therapy showing the way these therapies can help to heal the problems at hand. 

There will also be a demonstration of Hydrotherapy at N.E.T.
